Lighthouse Of Alexandria's- Vino Tinto
Lighthouse of Alexandria's wine originates from the vineyard "Alto de Pioz" in Castilla, Spain. Coming from a country with a rich standard of wine it stands out from other wines in that it is considered a high altitude wine, resting at 800 m above sea level. Due to the disparity in day and night temperatures at higher altitudes, the grapes undergo longer ripening period, providing a fresher and more balanced taste. Our 20-year-old Secano vines stand as a testament to sustainable viticulture, thriving without irrigation and relying solely on natural weather conditions. .
Blend
A unique blend of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Tempranillo, a traditional Spanish variety, offers a robust hit of alcohol and tannins, imparting a deep colour and a spectrum of flavours ranging from vibrant fruitiness to complex maturity.
Process
Every step of the process is conducted at the vineyard to maintain quality. Harvested early, following a tradition of the region, this balances out the typical strength of the Tempranillo by giving it a perfect level of acidity.
Contrasting this, our Cabernet Sauvignon adds a touch of elegance and sophistication. Comprising 20% of the blend, and also being handpicked, it enriches the wine with a bold flavour profile and the potential for graceful aging.
Our aging process, utilizes French oak barrels of second and third use for a period of 10-14 months. This not only imbues our wine with subtle oak nuances but also respects the wine's intrinsic flavours. Further maturation in the bottle for an additional 10 months enhances its elegance, ensuring a well-rounded and harmonious profile.
